Latavius Murray Injury: Updates on Raiders RB’s Ankle and Return

Oakland Raiders running back Latavius Murray was battling an ankle injury heading into Week 12, but he is ready to play.

Murray Active vs. Panthers Sunday, Nov. 27 The Raiders announced that Murray was available for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Murray Struggling to Stay Healthy, Consistent in 2016 It's been a disappointing season for Murray, who has already missed two games due to a bout with turf toe.

After a sophomore campaign that saw him rush for 1,066 yards and six touchdowns, Murray recorded fewer than 60 yards rushing in each of his first four games, totaling 172 total yards on the ground for an average of 2.38 yards per carry.

It didn't help that he lost touches to DeAndre Washington, who has averaged 4.8 yards per carry this season.

Even while Murray's numbers sagged in the early portion of the season, he still showed flashes of what made him such an effective runner last season, via the NFL:

Upon his return, he raised his numbers to 426 rushing yards through eight games to go with a career-high eight touchdowns with an average of 4.2 yards per carry. A 20-rush, 114-yard effort with three touchdowns against the Denver Broncos in Week 9 helped pad his stat line.

But another potential trip to the injury list will only build frustration for a player who is trying to take his game to a Pro Bowl level.

If Murray is limited or forced to the sidelines in the future, Washington will get the bulk of the carries as the No. 1 back while Jalen Richard backs him up.

So long as they can carry the ground game by committee, quarterback Derek Carr should have no problem leading the offense.
