Jacoby Ford Injury: Latest on WR’s Week 1 Status, Rod Streater’s Reps and More

The Oakland Raiders have several pressing question marks entering the 2012 season, many of which deal with injuries to their receiving corps.

The Raiders are dealing with injuries to wide receivers Jacoby Ford and Denarius Moore, as well as Sebastian Janikowski. Aside from their 1-2 record, this isn't how you want to start off a season.

Preseason is drawing to a close, and the news you hear now could have a major impact on the regular season.

Let's take a look at the latest news coming out of Raiders camp.

Jacoby Ford's Status

San Francisco Chronicle reporter Vic Tafur supplied this quote from Oakland coach Dennis Allen: "I think they’re close but I don’t know if close means tomorrow or the next day or exactly when that means...I hope close means real soon.”

The "they" part of that also refers to Moore.

Tafur's report then states that Ford caught passes from the JUGS machine on Tuesday, but that he hasn't begun running.

Ford is still questionable for the start of the regular season. He caught 19 passes for 279 yards last season and is a valuable commodity out of the slot.

Rod Streater's Reps

Streater has impressed this preseason with 18 catches for 165 yards so far.

CBS Sports correspondent Eric Gilmore offered this insight from Allen on Thursday:

Dennis Allen on WR Rod Streater: "I'm not ready to put him in the Hall of Fame. Still got a long way to go, but he’s made good progress.”

— Raiders RapidReports (@CBSSportsNFLOAK) August 30, 2012 With guys like Ford and Moore on the mend, now is the perfect time for Streater to step up. He has done everything in his power to ensure that he's a guy Oakland looks to in big moments this season.

Allen's statement makes it seem like Streater is definitely in their plan...
