We certainly hope he's well and able to resume his career. Football is a rough sport and injuries are a part of the action, but you hate to see them as nasty as this.
Jerry McDonald of the San Jose Mercury News reported that Heyward-Bey was taken to the hospital with a neck injury and concussion.
That said, on a fantasy football level, owners of the wideout must consider replacing him. It seems likely that he will miss at least a few games after this ordeal.
Heyward-Bey got off to a slow start this season with only seven receptions in two games, but caught his first touchdown pass of the year on Sunday.
Following a solid 2011 season, he was likely a moderately high selection in your fantasy league. However, a decent option as a replacement may be the man who entered in his stead on Sunday.
Derek Hagan had three receptions for 30 yards against the Steelers.
If he gets a full week to work with Carson Palmer and the first team, he could have a solid game on Sunday vs. the Denver Broncos. The Orange Crush pass defense has been more like puppy love this season.
The Broncos' opponents have thrown for 233 yards and two touchdowns per game. The Raiders pass offense should be able to flourish against them. Carson Palmer has been solid this season with 879 yards and five touchdown passes.
