5 Prospects the Oakland Raiders Should Target

Oakland Raiders fans, pop quiz!

Question: What do La’Roi Glover and Shane Lechler have in common?

Answer: Both were selected in the fifth round by your Oakland Raiders, and both went on to appear in six or more Pro Bowls.

Moral of the story: Even though the Silver and Black won’t pick until the third round of April’s NFL draft— and have just five picks overall—don’t abandon all hope.

The NFL draft is a crazy, wondrous, whirlwind of a thing, and every so often, a little treat falls into your lap when you least expect it.

So what kind of treat should the Raiders pursue?

For starters, I wouldn’t advise Oakland to draft with immediate needs in mind. One rarely finds a Week 1 NFL starter in the third round or later. And even in the event that one does, it’s personnel suicide to plan around such a rarity.

With that in mind, I expect Oakland to take a best-available-player approach, and new Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie has already confirmed as much, according to 95.7 The Game's John Dickinson.

So who might the best available players be in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth rounds?

Gosh, I’m not going to tell you in print. Watch the dang video.
