2011 NFL’s Big Move: Michael Vick, Nnamdi Asomugha Teammates in Philadelphia

Rumors are flying high in the City of Brotherly Love as reports indicate that the Philadelphia Eagles will be going after former Oakland Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha.

Asomugha (aka the Nigerian nightmare) was scary good in 2010. How good, you ask? So good that all season long opposing teams' QBs only threw his way a combined 33 times. Out of those 33 attempts, only 13 were caught for just over 200 yards, as Asomugha all but completely shut down WRs under his watch.

If the Eagles acquire the free agent, they will upgrade their defensive backfield immensely. If they're are also able to pick up a decent pass rusher, they will be virtually unstoppable on both sides of the ball.

The Eagles have also been looking at DE Mathias Kiwanuka, another free agent, who just finished up his contract with the New York Giants. Kiwanuka is a speed demon off the line and has the talent to attract double-team attention from O-lines, leaving room for the up-and-coming defensive linemen to edge their way to vulnerable QBs.

With Asomugha's long run with a team that has continuously failed to make it to the playoffs, he will most likely be looking to play where he can have a shot at a Super Bowl before he retires.

Until the final votes are in, let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that we can sink our talons into this savory prospect.
