Speaking at a Playboy event, he told Los Angeles Daily News scribe Mark Medina that the Lakers should let another one of the late Dr. Jerry Buss' children take over the team:

Jim's been tasked with overseeing the basketball side of the operation, while Jeanie has been part in charge of the business decisions.
This isn't the first time that Jim's basketball leadership has come into question.
Magic Johnson, a Hall of Famer who spent all 13 seasons of his playing career with the Lakers and now works as an NBA analyst for ESPN and ABC, gave a scathing review of L.A.'s executive vice president early last season.
Per Ramona Shelburne of ESPN Los Angeles, he said that Jim Buss had made two crucial missteps with regard to his coaching hires:
He's made two critical mistakes already. ... First, hiring Mike Brown -- he wasn't the right coach. He's a great coach but not the right coach for the Lakers. And I don't feel Mike D'Antoni is the right coach for the Lakers. Especially when you have Phil Jackson sitting out there, who wanted to be the Laker coach.
Johnson's opinion probably carries more weight in basketball circles, but as ESPN's Chris Palmer pointed out, when Snoop Lion is in the house, it's hard not to take notice:
