Plan B for Lakers If Dwight Howard Bolts in the Offseason

Another saga involving what team Dwight Howard might play for next year sounds simply terrible. I can just imagine Round 2 of the cacophony of rumors, interviews, tweets and stories flooding the Web.

But the truth is, if Howard can't earn a ring with the Lakers, then it's a real possibility that he will find another viable team in the offseason.

Should that be the case, what will the Lakers do?

A bevy of free agents will be available in 2013, but the following year, 2014, will feature the most coveted free-agent class the NBA may have ever seen, including players like Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki and more.

Would the Lakers, who pride themselves on being constant contenders, be willing to sacrifice 2013 as a "bridge" year if it meant potentially hitting the jackpot with a franchise player in 2014?
