It is officially safe to say that the Los Angeles Lakers have seen better weeks.

Just one day after receiving an embarrassing 142-94 beatdown at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers, the Lakers will have to deal with injury concerns going forward with Pau Gasol.

Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles fills us in on the details:

The Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets, 134-126, but the big man did post 27 points and five rebounds in a losing effort in 30 minutes of action.

He did manage to finish the game, although Mike Trudell of Lakers.com pointed out that Gasol returning in the second half wasn’t always a certainty:

After the game McMenamin provided an update:

Considering the Lakers now sit at 21-42 and have no chance of making the playoffs, it would probably serve both parties well in the long run if Gasol made sure he was 100 percent before playing in future games.

There is no need to rush him back if the pain persists, as next year has become more important than this year in Hollywood, but even more so for the soon-to-be free agent Gasol.
