Pau Gasol Injury: Updates on Lakers Forward’s Foot

Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol injured his foot late in the team’s game against the Brooklyn Nets and had to leave the contest.

Pau Gasol is concerned about the injury he sustained in tonight's game, and he will be taking extra precautions, as ESPN Los Angeles' Dave McMenamin reported via Twitter:

The Lakers announced bad news about Gasol's foot injury on Tuesday.

David Aldridge of NBA.com tweeted:

 Lakers announce post game that Pau Gasol has a plantar fascitis strain, will have MRI in Boston Wednesday.

Lakers.com’s Mike Trudell took note of the injury via Twitter:

Pau Gasol has an injured right foot, and will not return. Nets doctors are looking at him now in the locker room.

— Mike Trudell (@LakersReporter) February 6, 2013 Gasol was able to briefly stay in the game before going back to the locker room to be evaluated by team trainers. The injury left an already thin Lakers team even more depleted for the final moments of the game. 

Dwight Howard missed the game with a shoulder injury, as the L.A. Daily News’ Mark Medina noted. Fellow starter Metta World Peace also did not play in the game after he received a one-game suspension for his role in an scrap with Detroit Pistons guard Brandon Knight.

However, Los Angeles still found a way to win the game 92-83.

There will still be concerns over Gasol’s health going forward. He has played in just 35 of Los Angeles’ 49 games this season after dealing with knee and head injuries earlier in the season.
