Nick Young Comments on Relationship with D’Angelo Russell After Video Incident

Nick Young is willing to let bygones be bygones with Los Angeles Lakers teammate D'Angelo Russell.

In March, Russell recorded a conversation between him and Young in which Young admitted to having cheated on then-fiancee Iggy Azalea.

"We're teammates. It's been so long, so it's kind of old," Young said Sunday, per Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News. "We'll be able to work it out. We've already been working it out. It is what it is. I can't be mad forever."

Less than two months ago, the incident appeared to still rankle Young. On June 21, Foot Locker released a commercial with Russell, Ben Simmons, Devin Booker and Karl-Anthony Towns that included a nod to Russell's indiscretion:

On the same day Foot Locker dropped the ad, Young tweeted, "Real funny."

While Young and Russell don't have to be best friends on or off the court, they at least have to coexist.

Russell is part of the Lakers' long-term rebuilding plans, so he isn't going anywhere. Meanwhile, Young's production last season (7.3 points per game on 33.9 percent shooting)—plus the fact he's owed $5.4 million in 2016-17 and $5.7 million in 2017-18—will make trading him difficult.

If Young has offered a proverbial olive branch to Russell, it should help Los Angeles avoid a potentially thorny situation next season and beyond.
