NBA Trade Rumors: Utah Jazz’s Deron Williams To The Los Angeles Lakers

Wednesday's departure of Jazz coach Jerry Sloan took the NBA by storm. With his resignation came rumors that Deron Williams' stay in Utah could be nearing its end.

Williams and Sloan were often butting heads in Utah.

Asked if he had an influence on Sloan's departure, Williams responded. "I would never force coach Sloan out of Utah... He's meant more to this town, more to this organization than I have by far. I would have asked out of Utah first."

Rumors were that Williams did ask out of Utah, and still could get his wish.

With no title in site, the Jazz may look to deal Williams now for some younger players or picks to help build for the future.

On the other side of the spectrum, the L.A. Lakers have been in the midst of trade talks involving Ron Artest.

No, a Williams for Artest deal is not in the future.

Lakers fans have been hoping a deal for Carmelo Anthony would come through, but that just isn't likely.

Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, and Lamar Odom are too valuable to the team to give up. For Anthony to become a Laker, this would be required.

However, the Lakers could use a player like Williams on the roster. He would bring something to the point guard position that the Lakers have been lacking. He is an obvious upgrade over Derek Fisher and Steve Blake.

The addition of a star point guard isn't a necessity in the triangle offense, but it would still be a nice upgrade.

The question that needs to be answered: what is Williams worth? The Lakers have made it clear they are willing to deal, so talks could be coming in the near future.
