NBA Trade Rumors: Dwight Howard Addition Would Make Lakers Title Favorites

According to the endless swirl of talks regarding Dwight Howard and his trade to...wherever he'll end up, there's a chance that the Los Angeles Lakers could seal the deal.

As rumor would have it, nothing is signed or set in stone, but the talking is definitely happening. And that's enough to make you wonder: would acquiring Howard make the Lakers NBA title favorites this upcoming season?

The strong Orlando Magic center would be joining Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant on the Lakers to form their own version of "The Big Three." (Yes, the Lakers recently acquired Antawn Jamison, but come on, it's Dwight Howard).

Now that the Lakers have Bryant, Nash, and Jamison, all they would need is Howard to complete the team. With these veteran talents, the Lakers could definitely be title favorites. These players are itching for a championship before they exhaust their abilities to make it to the finals.

The Lakers are a successful franchise with a consistently powerful team every season. And they make it happen by stacking their team. Last season, Howard averaged 20.6 points, 14.5 rebounds and .573 field goal percentage.

Why wouldn't you sign him?

Howard puts up numbers and delivers on the court. Having him on the Lakers would give the team a good chance to make it back to the NBA Finals after losing the Western Conference Series the past two seasons.

The Lakers are trying to acquire Howard because a trade like that would be huge.

Howard has yet to win a title during his eight-year career with the Orlando Magic. And the same goes for Nash and Jamison—all three are without championship titles to their name.

Adding Howard to the Lakers would be like adding fuel to the fire. Add in Bryant's possible retirement in 2013-14, and this would be the perfect group fight for the title.

They're hungry for a championship and no one is hungrier than Howard who has been verbally trade...
