No one really expected L.A to be leading the Pacific division, but here it is, a game ahead of the Clippers. However, if the Lakers want to make a run at the NBA Finals, they need to find an upgrade over Derek Fisher.
Fish has had a terrific career, but at this point he just looks like a liability on the court.
Here are some floor generals the Lakers have been linked with as we get closer to the March 15 trade deadline.
Kirk Hinrich, Atlanta Hawks
Hinrich certainly isn't the sexiest name on this list, but he will undoubtedly be the cheapest.
The 31-year-old is stuck in Atlanta behind Jeff Teague and that's a big reason why the Hawks and Lakers have discussed a deal.
Hinrich has struggled with his normally-dead-on shot this season, but most of that is him shaking off the rust after missing the first 18 games of the season.
This would serve as a "buy-low" option for the Lakers, yet they would get a veteran guard who knows how to run an offense, has good size (6'4") that allows him to play great defense and can shoot the three-ball when open.
Ramon Sessions, Cleveland Cavaliers
Sessions has appeared to be No. 1 on Los Angeles' wish list in recent weeks, yet the Lakers aren't willing to part with one of their two first-round picks.
In short, they probably should.
The only reason Sessions is on the bench in Cleveland is because of a certain No. 1 overall pick named Kyrie Irving, who is establishing himself as a soon-to-be top point guard in this league.
But when Sessions gets the opportunity, he thrives. In just 24.8 minutes per game this year, he is averaging 10.6 points, 5.1 assists and just under a three per game.
Throw in the fact that he has a player option for next year that he would likely accept...
