Lakers Rumors: Latest Buzz Surrounding Lake Show Heading into Draft Week

After a second-round exit in this year’s playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers’ roster could be poised for a shakeup before the upcoming season.

Although owner Jim Buss said the team doesn’t plan on making any big moves, according to the Los Angeles Times, the former champs would be well suited to upgrade their roster.

Without a true point guard on their roster, especially after Ramon Sessions opted not to return, the Lakers could be in dire straights.

Los Angeles features talent on their roster, yet the question remains if any teams are willing to absorb the large salary numbers in return for players such as Pau Gasol.

Gasol has been the talk of many trades, as he was nearly traded to the Houston Rockets before the start of last season.

He finished the season with respectable numbers—17.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game—but he took the brunt of the blame for the Lakers' second-round playoff exit.

Kobe Bryant questioned Gasol’s assertiveness at times during the playoffs, according to ESPN, and it may be time for the Lakers to cut ties with Gasol.

There were rumors that Gasol could be dealt to the Bulls in return for a package built around Chicago’s Luol Deng.

Bryant apparently wanted to play alongside Deng when Bryant was being discussed in trade talks with Chicago.

Deng could give the Lakers a valuable perimeter defender and has the ability to make the outside shot with consistency. Still, the Lakers would be better suited to add a point guard this offseason.

Although it is a long shot, the Lake Show have shown interest in Deron Williams, according to the Dallas Morning News, who is certainly the best player available this offseason.

The biggest hurdle, however, is the fact the Lakers can’t simply sign Williams, they would need to work out a sign-and-trade for him.
