Jordan Hill has reached agreement on a two-year, nearly $8 million deal with the Lakers, his agent Kevin Bradbury tells Y! Sports.
This is great news for L.A. Jordan impressed late in the season and into the postseason with his athletic play and high energy off the bench. Many fans have been clamoring for his re-signing and the Lakers' front office got it done.
Jordan's re-signing means a couple of things. The Lakers are able to maintain their athleticism off the bench, and he provides a solid defensive option to pair with the offensive minded Antawn Jamison. Hill is not going to break the bank at $4 million a year—what most fans would agree he's worth.
Jordan brings another athletic body to the rotation and is a guy who does not give up on a play. Obviously, he's not the best player on the team but may be among the most hard working. He gives the Lakers another young guy, so no age complaints either.
In short, he gives the Lakers a willing banger inside, who's willing to do the dirty work and get easy putbacks for points.
The Lakers have lost notable big guys in past years (yes, we remember you Ronny Turiaf) to teams who have offered monster contracts to them.
But the chance to play with Steve Nash and a shot at winning a championship was ultimately too much for him. If they were to finally add Dwight Howard to the mix, they would boast an intimidating front line with their starters and on the bench.
