Lakers News: Dwight Howard’s Camp Skeptical to Comment on Status for Opener

Dwight Howard and his people are being mum on if the superstar center will be ready in time for the Los Angeles Lakers season opener.

The NBA world wants to know if DH12 will be healthy and recovered from his back surgery by October 30, when the Lakers host the Dallas Mavericks.

When Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel inquired to Howard’s agent, Dan Fegan, about why the big man travelled to China but neglected to attend his skills camp in Orlando, he let the adidas PR officials do the talking.

“Since Dwight’s injury our focus has been on his recovery. His health has continued to improve and just last week he was cleared to travel. We are excited that Dwight is now able to participate in fan and community events as he continues to prepare for the NBA season. Dwight is an amazing athlete and outstanding partner with fans around the world.”

Basically the agent said nothing, and Howard's shoe sponsor put on a façade that everything will be just fine without any real substance.

Howard underwent back surgery back in mid-April which was described as “uneventful,” but neither he nor the doctors have set a timetable for a return.

Howard mentioned at his press conference that there was a chance he wouldn’t be in uniform for the Lakers' first game, and it’s still the same old song and dance.

We’ll keep you updated right here on B/R with the latest news, information, updates, opinions and analysis on DH12’s recovery from injury and status for the start of the NBA season.
