The Lakers announced via Twitter that Jordan Farmar has been diagnosed with a tear in his left hamstring. It's the second time Farmar has torn that hamstring this season, and it leaves an already injury-plagued L.A. squad in the most dire situation it's faced all year.
Marshall was drafted 13th overall by the Phoenix Suns in 2012. He was expected to take the helm once Nash left the desert, but he barely played as a rookie. He was then dealt to the Washington Wizards, who waived the UNC product.
Marshall was signed by the Lakers out of the D-League and has averaged 5.3 points, one rebound and 2.5 assists on 57.1 percent shooting overall and 55.6 percent from three-point range in four games wearing the purple and gold.
He logged 28 minutes against the Milwaukee Bucks, notching 10 points and seven assists. If the Lakers have any hope of staying relevant in the playoff chase, they will need Marshall to improve on those numbers going forward.
The Lakers, at 13-19, are sitting at 13th in the Western Conference after a six-game losing streak. They are six games behind the Dallas Mavericks for the eighth seed and next face the Utah Jazz.
