The Los Angeles Lakers superstar tweeted a picture of himself sporting a coat with the words "Ice Mamba" etched across the back following a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Bryant has never hesitated to experiment with different nicknames. Most recently, he's been coined "Vino," for obvious reasons.
Now, there's Ice Mamba. On the back of his jacket. For everyone to see. Just the way he likes it.
Like Vino, "Ice Mamba" is pretty self-explanatory. Either Kobe is taking his ice baths more seriously these days, or he's implying that he's a cold-blooded Mamba.
The latter would seem to make more sense here.
Snakes are considered cold-blooded, much like Kobe every time he knocks down a dagger or refuses to pass to an open Dwight Howard (kidding).
Knowing Bryant, we can't rule out the fact that he was simply cold either.
Los Angeles is fresh off a stint in chilly Minnesota. Compared to the sunny streets of Hollywood, a trip to Minny would feel Siberian-esque to Bryant.
Also possible, though unlikely, is the notion that the maker of said parka misspelled "Black."
Before you dismiss it, consider this: Some of Kobe's teammates didn't know who Abraham Lincoln was. What if those same teammates had these threads custom-made for him?
No matter the reasoning behind it, Kobe's not messing around with this jacket. Name and brand recognition are everything to him. Which begs the question: What's next?
Ice Mamba ice trays? Bathtubs perhaps?
One can only imagine.
At least we know we can always spot Kobe in a crowd.
