Kendrick Lamar Performs Special Tribute for Kobe Bryant Dubbed ‘Fade to Black’

Kendrick Lamar is on a mission to help you understand what the legacy of Kobe Bryant has meant to the City of Angels.

The Compton-bred rapper performed a special tribute for the Los Angeles Lakers star written by ESPN's Robert "Scoop" Jackson and simply titled "Kobe Bryant: Fade to black."

The performance is mixed with the seventh track off the hip hop artist's untitled unmastered. album, perhaps better known as "Levitate."

The tribute touches on what Bryant has meant to L.A. and the entire NBA world. A handful of his most storied career highlights are woven into a video of Lamar at The Forum in Inglewood, where the Lakers played until the 1999-2000 season.

The Black Mamba will play his final career game against the Utah Jazz at Staples Center on Wednesday night.
