The Kings have blitzed through the playoffs, racking up an incredible 15-2 record despite being the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. In fact, Los Angeles had the worst regular season record of anyone to reach the NHL postseason this year. That hasn't mattered at all during the second season.
Los Angeles has been led by goalie Jonathan Quick, who is having one of the best postseasons I've ever seen in any sport. Quick has been in net for every game and has been outstanding in each.
So far, the 26-year-old product has an incredible goals against average of 1.36, and has saved 95 percent of the shots he has faced. In 17 playoff games, Quick has allowed just 24 goals, while tallying three shutouts.
As if Quick's stellar postseason wasn't enough, forward Anze Kopitar and defender Drew Doughty have elevated their games as the playoffs have gone along.
The Devils largely outplayed the Kings in Game 2, but couldn't get a win, falling 2-1 in overtime. Losing that game had to be a serious blow to New Jersey's confidence and after the first period of Monday night's contest they just didn't seem to have any fight left.
The Kings essentially bulldozed the Devils in the second and third periods on their way to a dominant 4-0 win at home. With all that momentum and a raucous home crowd at the Staples Center behind them, it is really hard for me to see Los Angeles losing on Wednesday night.
It looks like there is nothing that can stop the Kings from pulling off a sweep of the Devils.
