The Western Conference is an extremely tight race as just five points separate the third place Dallas Stars from the tenth place Los Angeles Kings. The Stars also lead the Pacific Division, in which the Kings find themselves in last place.

Furthermore, the Kings also have teams hot on their tail, the closest being the Chicago Blackhawks, two points back, and Columbus Blue Jackets, four behind LA.

There will certainly be a tough battle to the finish for those coveted eight playoff spots. Though it is difficult to say for sure which teams will survive, the Kings definitely have the talent to earn a place in the post-season, if only they would play to the best of their abilities on a consistent basis.
