Los Angeles Kings Head into All-Star Break With Win Over San Jose Sharks

The Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks faced off in the final NHL game prior to the All-Star break.

Both teams played strong defense in their own ends during the first period.

Neither the Kings nor Sharks scored in the opening frame.

Ryan Smyth broke things open with a goal in the second, assisted by Jarret Stoll and Justin Williams.

The score came on a weak shot that “couldn’t break a pane of glass,” according to award-winning Kings broadcaster Jim Fox. Yet, it managed to flutter its way past San Jose goaltender Antti Niemi.

The Sharks responded with two goals just 39 seconds apart.
