And after taking the weekend off to let the triumph soak in, the Kings are prepared to celebrate alongside their fans with a championship parade on Monday.
NBC Los Angeles provides a look at the parade route:
According to the Los Angeles Times' Mike Bresnahan, the parade is set to begin around noon (3 p.m. ET) in downtown L.A. and conclude roughly an hour or so later when the procession arrives at Staples Center. In addition to the one-mile parade down Figueroa Street, the team will host a fan rally inside the arena, with those festivities kicking off shortly after 1 p.m. (4 p.m. ET).
ESPNLosAngeles.com's Arash Markazi points out that Kings players and coaches will be riding in double-decker buses and other special vehicles as they make their way to Staples Center.
In addition to the players, coaches and broadcasters, viewers can expect to see plenty of shiny hardware on display as the Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe Trophy and the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl will be on hand, according to Markazi.
On top of screaming fans and a fantastic atmosphere, expect to see a few big names on display. According to a statement released following the Kings' Game 5 win, L.A. mayor Eric Garcetti will participate in Monday's celebration, per BuzzFeed reporter Hunter Schwarz:
What's more, Garcetti will soon cash in on his bet with New York mayor Bill de Blasio, who must now sing Randy Newman's "I Love L.A." on an upcoming episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! as a result of the bet the two mayors made prior to the start of the Stanley Cup Final, according to the Los Angeles Times' Soumya Karlamangla.
