One of the most recent trophy sightings comes courtesy of Fox Sports personality Erin Andrews, who posted a picture of herself drinking from the Stanley Cup on Sunday night.
Andrews and her boyfriend, Kings center Jarret Stoll, appeared to have the Cup mostly to themselves for a day on the water.
I want to know what kind of champagne Andrews is sipping from that fine piece of hardware—or I did, that is, before I saw other pictures from Lord Stanley’s recent journeys.
A group of Kings players hit up Las Vegas last week, bringing the trophy along for some good ol’, down home debauchery.
Susan Stapleton of HauteLiving.com reports that Stoll, Jeff Schultz, Drew Doughty, Jake Muzzin, Alec Martinez, Trevor Lewis, Tanner Pearson and Martin Jones were among the players who took turns carrying the Stanley Cup as they perused Vegas pool parties and nightclubs.
Sufficed to say, things escalated quickly.
Kind of blows the whole Erin Andrews angle out of the water, doesn’t it?
Indeed, the Kings’ Stanley Cup tour is off to a rollicking start this summer. Philip Pritchard, the Hockey Hall of Fame employee tasked with keeping the trophy safe, reports that Lord Stanley is still in Vegas, waiting patiently in the stands at the Encore Theater where 2014 NHL Awards will be held on Tuesday night.
Keep an eye out, Pritchard. You see some weird things in your line of work, but the Kings look poised to take it to the next level this summer.
